Lydia, the main character of the book, is Greek-American. She lives in New York and works as a journalist for a local Greek newspaper. Because of her work, Lydia frequently travels to Greece to report on various topics. During one of her flights, she meets Orestis. Lydia is writing about the neighbourhoods in Athens, and Orestis offers to help her.
|
They meet in Athens, where Orestis invites Lydia to accompany him to Syros, a Cycladic island he must visit for business. The jewel of the Aegean soon becomes the setting for unexpected events… and secrets waiting to be uncovered.

About the MP3 audio recording (included with your Lydia purchase):
Listen to the story, narrated by native Greek speakers, and boost your understanding of Greek. The music was composed by Issidoros Papadakis, a talented musician. In addition, two other great figures of Greek music—Petros Kappelas, master of the bouzouki, and Yannis Varthalitis (guitarist)—improvised a musical prelude called a ‘taqsim’, which was recorded on the island of Syros by the sea and then incorporated into the Lydia audio recording. |
